L. (trying to determine if his friend's sibling is a girl or a boy): "Is she a girl or a sister?"

S: "Yesterday we had a lot of Hmong people at our house."
The little girl who said this is Hmong. This made me laugh because she didn't sound happy about it. It was kind of a whispered, almost-offensive-to-offensive comment...if that makes any sense.
